Scuba Diving is an underwater recreation activity that allows participants to explore the seafloor. Scuba Diving has become an international pastime and used for recreation, research, education, tourism or military purposes worldwide. Divers use various tools and techniques for safely exploring depths of lakes or oceans.

Scuba tanks are an indispensable tool in diving. A scuba tank is a container which contains compressed air used for breathing purposes; connected via hose or harness to the diver. A scuba tank may contain regular compressed air or mixtures of ordinary compressed air with more oxygen content (nitrox). Nitrox helps prevent decompression sickness (commonly referred to as “the bends”) which may result in joint and chest pain, loss of coordination, difficulty breathing and difficulty with breathing.

Since Cousteau’s time, scuba gear has come a long way. Modern diving gear is now much more user-friendly and less bulky, made from lighter materials like nylon or urethane and available in an array of colors and styles – many divers even own their equipment or rent from local diving centers.

Owning one’s own gear often provides greater mobility, making scuba diving an accessible sport.

Before beginning their diving adventures, individuals must obtain certification through a reputable diving center or school. There are various certification agencies; two well-known are PADI and SSI; these have different approaches when it comes to training materials: PADI provides more flexible materials while SSI adheres to a more rigid curriculum.

Anyone with heart conditions, lung disorders or other medical conditions should not attempt scuba diving due to its high pressure environment underwater, which may alter how their bodies function – even physical conditions that might otherwise not pose any threat could become life threatening when exposed to such high pressure conditions. Before beginning their scuba diving program it is imperative that individuals thoroughly review a medical questionnaire in order to answer it truthfully and truthfully.
